Each level and style of dance has its own unique dress code we would like each student to follow.

Ballet
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Black leotard and pink tights are traditionally worn for ballet, should dancers prefer to wear tights and shoes more complementary to their skin tone, they are invited to do so. Should a dancer forgo pink tights and shoes, the color of the selected tights and shoes should match.
- Pink ballet shoes or shoes that match the color of a dancer’s tights
- Pointe shoes if applicable.
Combo Classes
Combo 1, 1A
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Pink leotard, no skirt unless attached to the leotard.
- Pink tights are traditionally worn for ballet, should dancers prefer to wear tights and shoes more complementary to their skin tone, they are invited to do so. Should a dancer forgo pink tights and shoes, the color of the selected tights and shoes should match.
- Pink ballet shoes or shoes complementary to the dancer’s skin tone.
- Black tap shoes.
Combo 2, 2A
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Purple leotard, no skirt unless attached to leotard.
- Pink tights are traditionally worn for ballet, should dancers prefer to wear tights and shoes more complementary to their skin tone, they are invited to do so. Should a dancer forgo pink tights and shoes, the color of the selected tights and shoes should match.
- Pink ballet shoes or shoes complementary to the dancer’s skin tone.
- Black tap shoes.
Combo 3
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Purple leotard, no skirt unless attached to leotard.
- Pink tights are traditionally worn for ballet, should dancers prefer to wear tights and shoes more complementary to their skin tone, they are invited to do so. Should a dancer forgo pink tights and shoes, the color of the selected tights and shoes should match.
- Pink ballet shoes or shoes complementary to the dancer’s skin tone.
- Black tap shoes
Pre-Jazz
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Purple leotard, no skirt unless attached to leotard.
- SoDanca brand jazz shoes and tights complementary to the dancer’s skin tone are required for class.
Boys in any Combo Class
- Black bottoms; pants or shorts
- White short-sleeve shirt with no logos or writing.
- Black ballet shoes and black tap shoes.
Mini Movers
Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Any color leotard and tights or comfortable clothes
- Sneakers or ballet shoes
Hip Hop
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Dancers are invited to wear any color leotard and tights and may wear pants or shorts on top.
- Dancers may wear any sneakers for class. Students will be advised on what footwear is needed for the Recital.
Irish
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Dancers are invited to wear any color leotard and tights and may wear tight pants or shorts on top. No baggy shirts or pants.
- Black Capezio Tap Oxfords or Irish step shoes are required for class.
Jazz and Theater Dance
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Dancers are invited to wear any color leotard and tights and may wear tight pants or shorts on top. No baggy shirts or pants.
- SoDanca brand jazz shoes and tights complementary to the dancer’s skin tone are required for class.
Lyrical
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Dancers are invited to wear any color leotard and tights that are complementary to the dancers’s skin tone and may wear tight pants or shorts on top. No baggy shirts or pants.
- Tights should be convertible or footless.
- For class, dancers may be barefoot or purchase FootUndiez or Bloch Socks if they choose. The instructor will advise what is worn on the dancer’s feet during the recital.
Modern
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Dancers are invited to wear any color leotard and tights that are complementary to the dancers’s skin tone and may wear tight pants or shorts on top. No baggy shirts or pants.
- Tights should be convertible or footless.
- Traditionally, Modern dance is done without shoes; however, dancers may purchase FootUndiez or Bloch Socks if they choose.
Tap
- Hair should be pulled away from the face in a ponytail or bun.
- Dancers are invited to wear any color leotard and tights and may wear tight pants or shorts on top. No baggy shirts or pants.
- Tan Tap Bloch shoes are required for all classes except for Company Tap and Navy Tap, which will wear Black Oxford Tap shoes. Visit Definitely Dance for our preferred style shoe.
