Being a trained dancer as an actor is a huge benefit. I didn't quite understand it until after my CVDA training, but being a dancer automatically makes me more comfortable in my body which makes standing on stage or in front of a camera very easy to do. CVDA gave me a great technical base and I'm always surprised/impressed by my muscle memory to this day.

Dance offers a wonderful foundation. You learn how to carry yourself gracefully and also learn how to be accountable for yourself and your fellow team of dancers. When training in a very serious setting starting at a very young age, you mature quickly.

CVDA truly felt like my second home, and it was so wonderful to grow up there. The ever encouraging teachers and strong friendships continually inspired growth, hard work, dedication, and passion for dance. CVDA also provided me with invaluable experiences for a young dancer; plenty of performance opportunities, workshops, and chances learn from different choreographers. These experiences and the mentoring from wonderful teachers helped show me the many ways I could incorporate dance into my future.

My experience and training at CVDA were crucial to my dance education during and after college. Being a part of the CVDA community since the age of four taught me a great deal of self-discipline, respect for the art of dance and my teachers, and how to be a good person overall. All these years later, I still admire and look up to all of my teachers from CVDA, especially Miss Cathy. She has always made CVDA a safe, welcoming and warm environment, and I try to keep that feeling with me wherever I get to dance.

Absolutely love CVDA! Both my daughters started dancing here since they were 3 or 4. The teachers are seriously knowledgeable, dedicated, and tremendously talented. We love that our girls thrive in an environment that harbors hard work, discipline, and a true love of dancing (especially ballet). Cathy Moran, the owner and instructor, runs a first-rate dance school and we couldn't imagine being anywhere else.

My experience at CVDA helped me in many ways. Not only did I receive my basic level of training and knowledge of dance there, but it also opened up the door for me to enter the dance world and realize that I want this art form to be a part of my life, in one way or another. The main thing I took away from my time at CVDA was the close relationships I built with fellow dancers and teachers that meant the world to me, and the experience of having a close-knit dance family during my adolescent and teenage years.

I feel that my time at CVDA has helped tremendously in my career thus far. First, the technical training served as an excellent base that opened many doors for me to further my education. In addition, the amount of performing that we did as young dancers is invaluable. The confidence to step on a stage and feel at home came with a bit of practice for me, so I felt grateful for that incubation time. Growing up at CVDA meant growing up with an extended family that is ever-growing. That family atmosphere created an awareness of others that I don't think I noticed until a few years after I left. A little bit of kindness can go a long way. Mrs. Cathy also created an environment that allowed me, and other alumni, to explore the many ways one can use dance training, not on stage: i.e. teaching, working backstage, and administratively. These other skills, on top of dance training, have launched me into a very exciting career path.
