This winter, we’re turning up the heat at the studio with a special Winter Dance Workshop you won’t want to miss! We’re thrilled to welcome back two of our incredible studio alumni for a weekend of high-energy, inspiring guest classes that celebrate creativity, community, and growth.
Whether you’re looking to try something new or deepen your training, this workshop is the perfect way to stay motivated and moving all winter long.
Hip Hop / Bollywood Fusion with Umali Vadher
Get ready for a dynamic blend of styles that fuses the groove and power of Hip Hop with the expressive flair and storytelling of Bollywood. This class will focus on musicality, confidence, and bringing personality to your movement, all while having a blast.
Jazz with Tanina Urbanski
Sharp, energetic, and full of performance quality, this Jazz class will dive into technique, strength, and style. Dancers will work on precision, dynamics, and stage presence while learning choreography designed to challenge and inspire.
Register + Sign Up
We invite all students to take these classes! Students in the Hip Hop Dance Team and Company should check their emails for a sign up sheet. Students not part of these performing groups should register online in the Portal under Events, "Winter Workshop". The fee for this workshop is $50 and includes both classes. Classes run for one hour each beginning at 5:30 pm and include a 15 minute break in between.
Meet the Instructors
Umali Vadher
Tanina Urbanski
Tanina Urbanski is an alumna of Chester Valley Dance Academy, where she received comprehensive training in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and pointe. During her time at the academy, she was a Company member and performed featured roles in the annual Nutcracker productions, including Clara, Dew Drop, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. She furthered her training at the Joffrey Ballet School.
Tanina is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she was recognized as a Janet Seeley Arts Scholar and a recipient of the Jean W. Reeves Arts Scholarship. While at HWS, she performed at the American College Dance Festival and was an active member of the Koshare Dance Collective, contributing as a performer, choreographer, and producer of the group’s annual concert. Through Koshare, she also founded the Day of Dance Workshop, an outreach initiative that welcomed middle and high school students from the Geneva, NY area to campus for a full day of dance classes taught by HWS dance students. Her professional experience includes teaching dance and choreographing musical theatre productions at various high schools, with credits including West Side Story (2016), Into the Woods (2017), 9 to 5 (2018), Mamma Mia! (2019), Chicago (2020), and Mary Poppins (2022). Most notably, Tanina founded and directed the Villa Maria Academy High School Dance Company.
Currently, Tanina is pursuing a career in technology in Massachusetts while continuing to teach dance at Joanne Langione Dance Center in Newton, MA. She remains closely connected to the Chester Valley Dance Academy community by managing the studio’s website and social media platforms. You can often find her photographing in the audience at Nutcracker and Recital.
