My CVDA Experience: My First Competition

Chester Valley Dance Academy is proud to offer students with not only quality dance training at the studio, but also the opportunity to travel and participate in conventions, competitions, and master classes.  CVDA Dancer Ethan shares his recent experience at the Access Broadway Competition.

“My first competition was so much fun! I started my day with a workshop which ran from 7:30 am to 9:00 am where I learned a Broadway Tap routine. I also took an audition class and had to dance my best in order to make it to the last round.

In the afternoon, I went to watch and support all of the dancers from my studio competing. It was really exciting to watch them, and the CVDA Dancers did an amazing job.  Watching them dance made me so excited for my turn to perform with my Ballet class later in that evening.

Backstage, we took pictures in our costumes and had our own private dressing room for CVDA.  I enjoyed hanging out with my friends all day.

We were very excited to dance for the judges when it was our turn to dance.  I had so much fun performing and as soon as the dance was finished, we all discussed how we thought our performance went.

When it was time for awards, we had fun dancing to some music and then sat down. We then began receiving awards. Our studio did amazing and got all platinum and high gold trophies. We then received rankings and won 3rd for choreography! I had so much fun and can’t wait to do another competition.”
