To sign up for the Nutcracker, you can go on our website and login to your parent portal. Please use the grade your child will go into in the 2023-24 school year to enroll. The participation fee is due prior to your child entering the audition. Below are the dates and times of the audition, please arrive 30 minutes prior to your audition time.
Audition and Rehearsal Uniform: Black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, pointe shoes and hair in a bun.

Students in Kindergarten do not need to audition. They will be invited to participate as an angel. More information will be sent in September.

Nutcracker 2023 Requirements
In order to be eligible to audition for the 2023 Nutcracker, students must meet the following requirements:
- Take ballet in the summer of 2023. Attendance in our summer program will be taken into consideration when we cast for Nutcracker parts.
- All students auditioning must have taken ballet in the 2023 school year and must be 7 years of age or older and have completed a full year of Combo III, or PB I (with previous Combo III experience) level experience or higher.
- Students will not be allowed to audition without payment and a signed enrollment on the parent portal. There will be a ½ hour meeting for all parents at the beginning of each audition. If this is your first year in the Nutcracker the dancer must have an adult representative present to go over the commitment to participating. Parents will have the opportunity to volunteer as helpers in various areas at this meeting. A zoom link will be available if you are unable to attend in person.
Absentee Policy
- The performer may have two excused absences from September 8th to November 25th. If a third rehearsal is missed during this time the dancer will be replaced with the understudy and in turn your child becomes the understudy for the dance.
- Each part in the Nutcracker will have at least 1 understudy. (Understudies must come to every rehearsal as though they were in the dance).
- On and after Sunday 11/25, dancers may not miss any rehearsals. There will be Dress Rehearsals at CVDA on Sunday after Thanksgiving.
- If you miss a rehearsal on and after November 25th until the show, you will be replaced with the understudy.
- If you leave early or arrive late to a rehearsal, you may be considered as absent and be replaced by the understudy. (This at the choreographer’s discretion.)
Rehearsal Information
Rehearsals will be on Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons and/or Sundays. The rehearsal schedules will be posted online on our website. Please check the rehearsal schedule online for your rehearsal times every week. The schedule is subject to change, so please keep a close eye on the times.
